The Unforgetable KK trip

A hell lot happened in the last 5 days.

19th July - Arrived at KK. It was my first time there, so I didn't expect much. When I landed, the airport looked run down...no aircon, no proper infrastructure, signs to taxi stand were misleading, etc...and I thought, "How am I gonna survive for another 4 days in this kampung?". But to my surprise, the town was completely different!

20th July - Met up with friends from Singapore, KK and Miri. Had lunch at a famous ngao lum meen restaurant. When the sun went down, we ordered room service dinner where we had lamb chop, salmon, salad, fish & chips and the best local delicacies - nasi goreng and nasi lemak. Later that night, we (the party-goers haha) visited one of KK's top nightspots, Shenanigan, located at Hyatt Regency Kinabalu, where we had Johnnie Walker Swing all the way...one bottle after another. And needless to say, what I had for dinner, ended up in the toilet bowl.

Drunk? I think so!!

21st July - Off to Pulau Sapi. A very small island but alot to offer.

The finale, Jet Ski, wrapping up our day out at Pulau Sapi.

On the same night, we partied at one of the biggest dance clubs in Sabah, The Bed. It has a unique warehouse-style concept. We had our own private suite room there, with a pool table and more Johnnie Walker Swing and Black Label.

22nd July - Chilled out at Le Royal Club lounge, Le Meridien where we stayed. The lounge has a very paradise-y feel to it, overlooking the Sutera Harbour Resort, comfortable leather lounges, LCD TV, internet access and etc. And the best thing...as privileged guests, we get everything FREE + their dedicated service...at a cost of RM650++ per night!
Coincidently, it was also the French wine and cheese festival...where they featured wines from France, Australia and Chile....and lots of cheese!

As a not-so-fond-of-cheese person, I settled for Boursin to go with my Chilean wine. With a good glass of wine, the superb sea view, and good companies...it felt like paradise!

That same night, we dined at Port View Seafood Village - 3kg fish, flower crab, steamed prawns, and few dishes of mouth-watering clam families. YUM!!!

After dinner and after 2 nights of hardcore clubbing, we subsided to a Latin bar, Rumba, to enjoy the Latin life.

23rd July - 9 o'clock flight back to Brunei...and guess what? We f&@king missed it!!! For the first time, I experienced the 'Amazing Race' adventure...running around the airport looking for ticketing offices to catch another flight home on the same day. Silk Air, Air Asia, Dragon Air, Royal Brunei Airline, MAS Airline. They either did not have flights on the same day, connecting flights which could not be connected or fully booked. We decided to purchase one-way ticket from MAS Airline, and waited patiently (not so!) at the stand-by counter hoping that some passengers would not turn up....and God blessed us!

Phew....what a trip! A big THANK YOU to James & Joanne.

I'm now looking forward to my next adventure with best mates, and brothers. MELBOURNE, here I come... =)
